High school buddies who originally got together to jam and partake of a few beers eventually became the Legend Killers in the summer of 1985. Hailing from London, Ontario Canada, and named after their wrestling hero Rowdy Roddy Piper, the Legend Killers are now considered to be the ultimate London garage band. They did it first and they did it best. A little heavier than most garage bands, with a nice dollop of 70's raw power, the Legend Killers were and to this day still are one hot live act. Sweaty, loud and wild, the Killers have always played a variety of garage standards, covering everyone from the Flamin' Groovies to the Ramones with a lot of Dictators thrown in for good measure. Coupled with their own tunes that rock with the best of them the Killers gained a large following over the years. They managed to tour Canada and their 7"ep  "Better Than Hammerin" put out by London's What Wave Records drew rave reviews in alternative publications in North America and Europe. They also have  the distinction of being the only band to appear on every What Wave tape that came out. After a lengthy hiatus, beginning in 1995, the band reformed in 2003, releasing a 5 song CD, 'Rattlesnake Beer' on What Wave Records.

Legendary ex-Killers

Original founding member and frontman extraordinaire the one and only Rowdy Earle Rutherford. Inspired by the screaming sound of the Sonics' Gerry Roslie and the wild stage antics of UIC's Dave Robinson, Earle had the ability work up a sweat faster than a farmer in high summer. A whirling Dervish, with unlimited energy and a hankering for fine beer, this front man put the rawk in rock and roll.

Earle Rutherford

.

Chris joined the band in 1988 and played guitar for the Killers until 1991. We joked that he was way too talented to play in the Legend Killers but he always had a good time. A great guitar player, and a great guy his style was heavily influenced by country music and he in fact went on to play in Positively Stompin, a great country rock band.

Chris Mittelholtz

.

Nobody took the Legend Killers seriously until Bill joined the band. Not that we ever wanted to be taken seriously but Bill was a local drum  legend  long before he ever joined the Killers. His unique style has to be seen to be believed. The guy put everything he had, and then some, into his drumming and his kit would literally be bloodied and battered by the end of a set. 1986 - 1992.

Billy Wallace

.

After Bill had decided he had, had enough Lavard stepped in on drums for a couple of years. A totally solid drummer with great timing and one helluva a funny guy. Brad currently drums in 63 Monroe.

Brad Ondravic (Lavard)

.

The Legend Killers original bass player Brian MacDonald. When the Killers first got together, Brian had never played an instrumet before. Within two months he was playing like he had been at it for years, True natural talent for sure. Not to shabby on the skateboard either, Brian loved to 'just play' more than he enjoyed playing shows, and he left the band after the first two years. 1986 - 1988.
